Turn your Windows Phone 7 into USB Device
Well it’s already fourteen days since the launch of much awaited and anticipated Windows Phone 7 from Microsoft Inc. and hackers around the world are completely busy in making tweaks and necessary adjustments. Well it is known that with a latest tweak of the Windows Phone 7, it could be used as universal USB drive, though still its not official.
The advantage is that this is a pretty easy hack and the disadvantage is this hack is computer specific and the Windows Phone 7 could only be used as a Universal USB drive on that particular computer which has undergone some modifications and synchronization
In order to do this hack there are some steps to do, which will take less than five minutes and is enlisted below:
- Open the registry editor on the PC by typing regedit in Start menu
- Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Enum\USB; search for ZuneDriver.
- Now it’s time for some tweaking in the Windows Phone 7 device and these are

- Change ShowInShell from 0 to 1
- Change PortableDeviceNameSpaceExcludeFromShell from 1 to 0
- Change EnableLegacySupport from 0 to 1
This small trick will enable the user to connect the phone to the pc and have access to all the data of the phone through the PC.
