I had this problem several times with some other applications on Windows Vista. In most cases, the solution was just press “Retry” button and the un-installation should went fine. Unfortunately, PC Suite doesn’t provide “Retry” button. What should we do? The un-installation process failed with the famous “error writing to file c:\config.msi\xyz.rbf” problem. It is one of the annoying bugs on Windows Vista.
One of the solutions is by using CCleaner, a free utility for Windows. It allows us to uninstall an application using the default Windows Installer.
If you run CCleaner and select Tools tab on the left side of the main window, select “Nokia PC Suite” and click Run Uninstaller button.
Method 2 to reset the code:
You need a Data cable that comes with your phone and Nemesis Service Suite(later named as NSS) installed on your PC. Connect normally turned on phone to the cable and install drivers for it,is asked. Start NSS and click on magnifier glass – marked with mouse cursor.
When driver and other NSS software informations are displayed,click on big Phone Info (1.) button and then on little Scan (2.) button.If everything is OK you will get message Done! (field marked with arrow).
