Playing DRM-free Music from iTunes Plus
Friday, 25 Jun, 2010 – 12:08 | No Comment

I think most of you love DRM (Digital Rights Management) free music, don’t you? Personally, I love DRM – free music. It gives freedom for us to play our music in any players and operating systems. Other post on Nokia Support Discussion about DRM-free music from iTunes Plus. As you may already know, Apple has started selling DRM-free songs on iTunes Plus Music Store. Unfortunately, Apple has slightly modified the tag of iTunes Plus songs. As a result, they cannot be played on S60 devices by default.

Mac users don’t have this problem because Nokia Multimedia Transfer properly modifies the tag. Unfortunately, Windows users, who are using PC Suite, cannot enjoy this feature.

Other Ways to Accessing Files on PC from S60 Phones
Thursday, 24 Jun, 2010 – 23:18 | No Comment

Can we access files stored on our PC’s somewhere from our S60 phones? Yes, absolutely. There are already some solutions available out there or with Nokia PC Suite, but this time I will discuss the free one, i.e. SoonR.com. One feature that I like from SoonR is that no additional software needed on our S60 phones. The built-in web browser, such as S60 OSS Browser, will do. Furthermore, SoonR allows us accessing some other applications too, such as Microsoft Outlook and Skype.

How does SoonR work? It works by installing an agent on your PC, called SoonR Desktop Agent. The agent will then share your files to your phone’s browser via SSL connection (128 bit SSL to be exact). It works the same way to access applications, such as Outlook and Skype. Your phone acts as remote control to the applications via SSL connection.
