BlackBerry Dakota touchscreen will run OS 6.1

An image of what being dubbed the BlackBerry Dakota was leaked by Boy Genius Report. The Dakota reportedly offers BlackBerry OS 6.1, near field communications support, with 5 megapixel camera with HD-video recording support, and the ability to broadcast a 3G signal as a personal mobile hotspot.

RIM recently has been finding things getting harder with the competition from Google Android and Apple iOS and has decided to put a tough fight without losing the brand name to the competition that Google Android and Apple OS has been for fronting right out explicitly in the smartphone and mobile market.

Maybe this is the reason why that they have decided to sport their new BlackBerry Playbook with the recent Blackberry OS 6 into them unlike Apple, and have decided to work on an interesting exclusive platform which will aid in improving the compatibility for using a wide range of apps. The decision has been decided unanimously over the crafting of an all new OS following the adoption of QNX software systems from Haman International.

BlackBerry Dakota specifications:

  • 2.8-inch VGA 640 x 480 capacitive screen
  • 5 megapixel camera
  • HD video recording support
  • 4GB internal memory

BlackBerry Dakota also offers 768MB of RAM, but the details of operating system has not been revealed. Other features include WiFi b/g/n and Bluetooth connectivity.
